This is my first tanka
yesterday's weather
a warm summery pleasure
a tree announces
with a knock on the window
initial blast of winter
a warm summery pleasure
a tree announces
with a knock on the window
initial blast of winter
Poem #2
The tree's knock on the window
scratches an initial in the frost --
a winter weather calling card.
Poem #3
The tree knocks on the window
scratching an initial in the frost --
a winter calling card.

I totally love how you showed us your process as one poem led to the next -- this is fantastic. Your tanka is beautiful -- I love the blend of seasons with summer and winter. And your poems 2 and 3 are really lovely, and it's amazing how subtle changes create a whole new poem.
:)
What Clare said ((GRIN)). My favourite is number two. Lovely.
Hi, Clare and Jo. Thanks, both. I don't often "show my work" but it just seemed right this time.
I really like the winter's calling card idea.
Welcome to 3 Word Wednesday! Hope you'll return.
Hi, Bone,
thanks. I'm hope so too.
Those are all really good!
Thanks, Truefaith, I'm glad you like them.
These were fun.
P.S. Welcome to 3WW! I would have been by before, but couldn't get mine written this week and I don't read other's until mine's done :)
Hi, TC, and thanks. I do the same thing. I don't want to be swayed by someone else's take.
